Better Late then Never

And I always have wanted a cake platter...not that I do allot of cake baking..but to display some other goodies I make. For Valentines I made the kids Peppermint Bark...which they LOVE!!
I LOVE these "phrase plaques"..they are a easy way to add some spice to a room...this is on my Island in the Kitchen.

Sorry for my "slack" in Blogging. I have had sick kids for 3 LOOONG weeks now. I even had to drag my butt to the DR last Friday...my 1 year "sick visit"...the DR had to laugh..I was there last April with the exact same thing and blamed it on the kids then too.

I will do my best to get back on track!!

Mason was "really" excited" about this Valentine!

My mother in law was so great to come in and watch Caleb, Paige & Peyton so I could attend Masons School Party. They made cute little Lady Bugs out of mail-boxes!

Valentines Weekend was exciting around our house. With 4 young kids we like to make it more about them then us...We will have plenty of time for that when the kids get older. I enjoyed all the crafts I did this year with the kids. And Valentines day was special just spending the day with Troy and the kids!!
Hope everyone enjoyed Valentines Day with their loved ones!!

Valentines Day Madness

Lollipop Lillies is what Mason is giving out to his classmates for Valentines. I found this idea on http://www.skiptomylou.org/. She has the templates linked..so all you have to do is print them off on card stock...lots of cutting and glue..but they are cute!!
I got the hand sanitizer, curl ribbon, and stickers from Target and these cute name tags from Wal-mart...Martha Stewart.

The Teacher Gift Idea I found on http://j-a-girl.blogspot.com/search/label/Holidays. It was cheap and simple..and what teacher does not like hand sanitizer!! The lighting is not the best on this photo.

Today is Masons School Valentines Party, so yesterday I was in panic mode to finish the Valentines and Teachers Gift...it was fun to be crafty this year!!

Pizza Face

Mr Pepperoni Happy Face Pizza!!
Tonight I made a home-made Pizza...it actually was fun and easy...a little too much sauce...but hey I am just learning at all this baking nonsense!!

Where or Where did the Naps Go??

Having quite time..with what I call their Nap Mats.
They actually did really well..laid there for 30 minutes or so..of course watching something on TV..Oh well no fighting and quite..makes mom happy!!

Unfortunately Paige & Peyton only nap on occasion now and usually on "their" terms. I am trying hard to adjust to this...for nap time was also a great time for me to get some house-hold chores done with out kids hanging off me.

If no nap, I am trying to still make them understand there has to be some quite time..even if it is only 30 minutes...some days it goes well..others not so well.

They are all sick with colds..and Mason double ear infection...so naps are easy to come by this week.

Laundry Room

In attempt to "dress up" my laundry area I found these goods at Hobby Lobby...to put on my door leading to my dungeon!!
Love this Tassels..these are even cute in your kitchen on your cabinet! And Cheap...

Sign was on clearance at Hobby Lobby for only $4.00!!!

I dream of some day main floor laundry. With 4 kids this is what I spend most of my time doing...laundry.

I have come across some inspiring laundry rooms, but lets just face it...mine is in a sub-basement..dark and dingy...but hey a girl can dream..cant she!!

Why I HATE Play-Doh

Note the play-doh making its way to little crumbs...

Peyton would rather pull it all apart and throw all over the room (nice)

I even let them use the wooden rolling pin...then I thought..that could get dangerous with two 2 yr old's and a 3 yr old.

I am NOT a big fan of Play Doh at ALL. I usually will not even let my kids play with it. But they caught me on a good day.

As you will see in the pictures the reasons why Play Doh is NOT my friend!!

Valentine Craft

The lamp (bed-side lamps) set I picked up for only $5.00 at Ulta...of all places!!

The bargain of my week..oh besides the $7.00 Express jeans I picked up at Platos last week!!

This Be Mine Banner..was easy and actually fun to make. I bought all the supplies at Michaels..and actually had fun cutting out the hearts. For the full Iinstruction check out the blog link I have listed below.

A couple weeks ago we tried a V-day craft, I find most of the crafts we do on http://www.skiptomylou.org/ She has a awesome blog...and so far the crafts we have picked have turned out great!!

I want to really start hitting some "Thrift Shops" for some decor that I can "fix up"..just have not got around to doing that yet. In the meantime I will share with you a "great deal" I found on this lamp set at Ulta...of all places and only $5.00 for the set!!

Paige & Peyton once again did not nap today. I was rocking Peyton to sleep while he watched Dora and he fell asleep..it was so precious I wish I could have had a picture. So then I thought I would try rocking Paige and sure enough she was out within 10 minutes. I say that right there was so worth the no nap today!!

Too Be Long..Or Not!

My "Baby"..gorwing up so fast!!

Hair not so bad with a Hat on...Dude now has "bad" hair days!!

Mason is only 6 (7 in July)...but already into what is cool (or so he thinks) with the hair do's....Now anyone who knows me, will know I LOVE hair. Anywho he is all into the Disney shows...like with those Twins and I Carly and wants the hair they all have. It is a LONG process growing out his stubborn hair .

And poor dad just hates that mason wants this new hip do. I hear him say last night to Mason..why dont you just let me take you to get a hair-cut this weekend....dont think that is going to happen dad :)

No Nap=Early Night

Caleb with eyes open....nighty night kids!!

Caleb with those eyes closed again.

Today I ventured out to Good Ol McDonalds for lunch with the kids and so they could play in the yes..germ invested playhouse. This afternoon led us to NO nap, which means "early bed-time"...and I kinda like that.

Here is a shot of all 4 kids before bed.

We have the "Winter-Time" blues here bad...so I try to get the kids out of the house at least twice a week...even if it does mean going to McDonalds!!

Stay at Home Mom

I love when I come across these type of posts...I came across this story on a blog I frequent Clover Lane.

I have wanted to be a stay-at-home mom for as long as I can remember. I even majored in "Home and Family" for crying in the night! And let me tell you something, this life is better than I ever imagined it could be.
I take my title of "stay-at-home mom" quite literally. I try to stay at home with my kids as much as possible.
I am the lucky mother of 3 adorably perfect children. (I can say that because I am their mother.) Mabel, my oldest, is only 6, so my experience as a mother is somewhat limited. But as my children have grown, I have begun to realize that it is my job as a stay-at-home mom to create an environment that allows them to thrive. For me and my family, that means a slow-paced, home-centered existence.
My goal is to create a life for my kids that is peaceful and calm.
There is a lot of noise out there in the world. I want my home to be a refuge, a haven, and a place where that near deafening sound can be ignored for another day. As a stay-at-home mother, the home is my only domain, it is my favorite place to be, and I want it to be my children's, too.
Some things we do (and you can do, too!) to make life at home more peaceful:
On the days that errands simply can't be ignored, get them done quickly and early in the day. This allows for an afternoon of relaxation spent at home, not fighting traffic and the hustle and bustle of shops.
Limit outside activities.
I think we all know how important family time is. Call me crazy, but I really believe that quantity is more important than quality. My kids are not currently enrolled in any extra-curricular activities. But they are still young, so I know this won't last forever. When they are older, and show an interest in things, I will try to limit their involvement a bit so that it doesn't interfere with family time.
Eat dinner together as a family every night.
It doesn't always have to be a spectacular meal, but this is a good habit to start. A couple years ago, I read an article in Time Magazine called The Magic of the Family Meal. In it, I learned a few things, like the fact that young children pick up vocabulary and a sense of how conversation is structured during family dinners. They hear how a problem is solved, learn to listen to other people's concerns, and respect their tastes. They learn to share. Family dinners give kids a sense of belonging to their family. This is where a family builds its identity and culture. Legends are passed down, jokes rendered, eventually the wider world examined through the lens of a family's values. Not to mention that families who eat dinner together tend to eat much healthier.
Make a conscious effort to slow down.
Getting the kids ready to leave the house is always something of a process, and I can likely be found hurrying my children along. But I'm rarely in an actual rush, so I remind myself that it's ok to slow down. It's ok if it takes Oliver 5 minutes to put on his shoes. A trip to the grocery store, or Nana's house, or wherever can wait 5 minutes.
Become a firm believer in doing nothing.
I think kids need their own space and time to do what they want to do. At our house, "doing nothing" includes, but is not limited to: playing, coloring, reading, writing stories, building forts, having "quiet time" (code word for naps), or running around the backyard. Doing nothing is unstructured time where my kids get to choose want they do, and I don't bug them. I am lucky that my two oldest are the best of friends. They are more than capable of keeping themselves entertained, which is a great skill for all kids to learn, even babies like my Stella.
Keep things clean.
In order to maintain a peaceful home, I really believe you have to have a clean home. Some days I feel like I spend my life cleaning. Other days I feel like my house is a major disaster area and there's no hope. But for the most part, I try to stick to a cleaning schedule (Mondays I do bathrooms, Tuesdays I dust, etc.). This keeps my neat-freak tendencies in check, and it means that I always have a relatively clean house. One of my favorite cleaning activities is to putter. This can be done any day, for any amount of time. While my kids are busy "doing nothing", I am busy "puttering", which means walking from room to room picking up, throwing away, and putting things back where they belong. Most of the time I count this as my exercise for the day, and I get the added benefit of having an organized home.
Speak softly, turn off the tv, and listen to pretty music.
I was raised by wonderful parents who never yelled. Not once. Their example has inspired me, and I try not to raise my voice at my children. Again, there is enough of that out in the world. I believe that being a mother is a great privilege and blessing. It is my duty to be the best I can be. Somehow, I don't think raising my voice at these tender little people is fulfilling that sacred calling of motherhood. When my children watch tv, I try to limit it to one or two 1/2 hour shows a day. It's just more noise. And I love to have music playing in our home. It is usually something mellow, but every once in a while something with a good beat comes on and we let loose. Editing the noise you allow into your home from the outside world is so important.
If perchance you, my dear reader, are a high-energy person, or you are a true supermom and juggle work and home life, don't fret. It is possible to create a peaceful environment even if you like running errands in the afternoon, or listening to rock music, or you have a 9-5. The trick is to find a routine that works for you and your kids and to stick to it. Kids crave stability and attention.
If you are giving them the routine and the constant, unconditional love that they need, things are going to be pretty all right most of the time. This much I know, babies don't keep and children grow too quickly, so try to enjoy being home with them now. They will only be content to stay at home for so long, so I, for one, am drinking it up and soaking it in.

Monday Fun Lunch Day

Caleb...well he rarely eats anything, till about a hour before dinner and wants to pig out on junk....we are working on this.
Peyton was not into eating the blueberries. But could not resist the coolwhip and graham cracker.

No-one said this snack was not messy...my kids find ways to make EVERYTHING messy.

This was the "after lunch snack"..Berry-Graham Dominos..found on krafts food.com. Simply Graham Crackers...Frozen Cool Whip and Blueberries.

We used our "Heart Cookie Cutters" for our Jelly Sandwiches..and the Fruit Spread was left here last night by my mother in law...and it really is Yummy. You can get it at Meijer-Cascadian Farm Organic (raspberry)

In the process of trying to accomplish 5 loads of laundry today (YUK) and day 2 of a killer sinush headache..oh and listneing to Caleb, Paige & Peyton fight non-stop..we had to pause for some lunch.

Honestly I really hate trying to think of things to feed my kids for lunch...they are not big lunch eaters...and half the time I never take the time to eat lunch.

So I am sharing with you..the fun lunch we had this afternoon.
